As part of her ongoing work, Sophie assists in language restoration support projects,
with attention to the essential role of Indigenous language restoration in landscape and relationship to place; to combating settler erasure of Indigenous languages and ways of being; to the rematriation of Indigenous language knowledges to their home communities; to supporting curriculum development for language learning; to careful engagement with language archives (both settler and non-settler); to respect for sovereign and private language knowledges; and with particular focus on Haudenosaunee languages and place names in Haudenosaunee territory.
